On the early hours of the 9th December 2022 our perfect family bubble had

been completely torn apart when our beautiful daughter Mia was tragically

snatched away from us. Something unimaginable that you never think would

happen, happened to us and we want to make sure that no family have to

suffer like us . 

 

Mia was the most precious girl, with a beautiful contagious smile, wicked sense of humour, who brought fun and joy to everyone she met. Mia loved life, loved her family and friends and was always happy. We were so blessed to have her. Mia was rarely poorly, never one to complain of illness. Mia started with a sore throat and cold like symptoms but didn’t appear to be unwell with in herself until a few days later when she got worse. After a restless night of her screaming  in pain with her head, not eating and sickness I took her straight to the doctors on the morning of the 8th December. We were told Mia had a virus and it was nothing serious like Strep A which, was in the media at the time. I questioned why she was getting worse rather than better but was told this can happen with viruses so off we went trying to keep on top of pain relief. Mia was so tired after a restless night, she just wanted time to sleep, 3 hours later after trying to keep fluid in her and medicine down I called back the doctors in which they asked me to go back in. We were sent away being told again that it was a virus. We were told to keep on top of fluids and pain relief for her high temperature. 15 hours later Mia had died. No words can explain the unimaginable trauma watching your child die. How could she die, she just had a virus??!!!  Mia had Strep A which developed in to Sepsis. Mia had all the signs of Sepsis when in the doctors and if she was treated for Sepsis she would have survived. If we knew what we know now about  the signs of Sepsis we could have saved her. 

 

Our aim is to raise awareness of the signs and help raise funds towards Sepsis, as well as to help families effected as we don’t want other families to go through the trauma and pain of loosing a child or loved one.
